Who we are

The Retail Studies Center (CERET) at the University of Chile was established to develop productivity solutions and generate knowledge.

History

The Retail Studies Center (CERET) was formed from a FONDEF project aimed at generating and developing productivity solutions for retail companies, initially focused on the supermarket sector.

CERET is part of the Department of Industrial Engineering (DII) at the University of Chile, and its current Director is Prof. Marcel Goic.

Mission

CERET’s mission is to contribute to the development of the Latin American retail industry in the areas of Operations and Marketing. To achieve this, CERET researches, develops, and disseminates new methods and tools that support business management.

Vision

To be a reference in Latin America in providing relevant information that enables regional retailers to generate greater value for their customers.

Objectives

To fulfill this mission, CERET sets the following objectives:

  • Resources: To be a fundamental resource for research conducted by academics and industry professionals.
  • Research: To develop original research on marketing and operations topics related to retail.
  • Connections: To create links with other centers or institutions with similar characteristics in other countries.
  • Consulting: To transfer, alone or in partnership with companies, consulting services for management based on research conducted at CERET or other similar research centers.
  • Dissemination: To disseminate, through courses and the completion of theses and dissertations among students of relevant university programs, the economic importance of the industry and its operational processes and characteristics.
  • Training: To support the continuous training of industry professionals through courses and seminars.
